Things like this don’t happen to me 🙈 I have been double checking all day that the email was meant for me and it seems like it really was ♥️.
Out of over 50,000 people I have been shortlisted down to 8 for the positive role model award for disability in the National Diversity Awards. I honestly can’t believe it and spent half the day crying happy tears.
I’ve had an extremely difficult couple of months and felt the lowest I have done in a long time and almost felt like I had lost purpose. This has made me realise I need to believe in myself more and sharing my story is so important. I also hope it shows others that we can achieve anything, whatever our situation. I never set out to do anything other than support and help others on this journey and to try and create a support network and I’m so happy that I seem to have achieved this, everything else is a bonus.
The awards are in February next year, but already planning my dress and looking for a hairdresser! I can’t wait to represent every one of us with sight loss and stargardts at the diversity awards and even if I don’t win, I just can’t believe with everyone’s support and votes, I was able to go this far. Thank you all of you for your continued support it means so much ♥️ xx

PD1 – I, a white woman, am sat on a rock looking back towards the camera and it’s the Cumbrian hills around me. I have my ombre hair down and am smiling at the camera. The weather is overcast but warm end I am in Summer clothes. There is an image in the bottom of the picture that shows my diversity shortlisted banner.
